Behind the studio
The print tools we built while making coasters
It all started with this website. Printing coasters to order meant handling artwork all day — sizing it, imposing it, cutting it, weeding it. Somewhere in the middle of that it became obvious how much of the job a bit of automation could take off our hands. So we built the tools. They have grown a fair bit since.
Weeding line generation
Contour-cut vinyl graphics with automatic weeding lines — evenly spaced, multi-page, output as a named spot colour so the cutter reads it cleanly. Born out of hand-weeding lorry liveries and deciding never again.
Imposition and step & repeat
Artwork ganged up onto sheets with correct bleed, gutters, cutter paths and register marks. What used to be an afternoon of dragging boxes around is now a button.
Front-end page make-up
The productive part nobody talks about: getting artwork prepped, sized, cleaned and press-ready before it ever reaches the printer. That is where the time actually goes.
Now released as PSD Pro Suite
What began as one script to save our own hands has turned into a set of production modules for sign makers, print shops and anyone doing serious front-end page make-up. It lives at its own home now: psdprosuite.com.
Everything in it was written against real jobs going through a real studio — lorry liveries, wall graphics, thousands of 95mm coasters — not against a demo file. If a tool did not save us time on the shop floor, it did not make the cut.
Why it matters for your order
The same automation that makes the tools worth selling is what lets us turn a personalised coaster order round the next working day. Artwork checks, proofing, imposition and cutting are all handled by the same pipeline — so a one-off gift box gets the same press-ready treatment as a 5,000-run trade job.
