What to Buy the Friend Who Has Everything
We all have one. The friend whose Amazon wishlist is empty. Who "doesn't need anything." Who buys themselves whatever they want, the moment they want it. You love them, but shopping for them is a annual stress-test. Here is why our Coaster Creator has become the secret weapon for exactly this problem — and why it works every single time.
The gift problem no one talks about
By the time someone reaches their late twenties, they have accumulated enough stuff. They do not need another generic candle, another pair of novelty socks, or another bottle of gin that will sit unopened for two years. What they need is something that says you actually thought about me — and that is surprisingly hard to find off the shelf.
That is where a custom coaster wins. It is small, useful, personal, and impossible to find in a shop. You design it in minutes, it costs from £5, and it lands on their coffee table as a permanent reminder of whatever ridiculous inside joke you share.
Why a custom coaster beats every default gift
It is impossible to duplicate
No one else on earth can buy your friend a coaster that says "WORLD'S OKAYEST GOLFER" in mustard and navy with their exact font. That makes it priceless, even though it only costs a fiver.
The neon option is genuinely magic
We are one of the only UK print houses with SwissQ UV-reactive neon ink — Neon Yellow, Green, Pink and Orange that glows under black light. For the friend who throws parties, this is an instant conversation starter.
Inside jokes land harder on a coaster
A mug with a quote is nice. A coaster with the exact phrase you shout across the pub every Friday is a memory frozen in cork. It lives on their coffee table, not at the back of a cupboard.
It is dangerously fun to make
Most people start by designing one coaster for a friend and end up making four for themselves. The live preview, the colour swaps, the font changes — it is genuinely addictive. Consider yourself warned.
How the Coaster Creator works (spoiler: it is too easy)
You open the tool, pick a shape (round or square), choose a background colour from our palette — mustard, terracotta, forest green, blush, jet black, or one of four UV-reactive neons — and start typing. The text auto-fits as you go, so "BEST DAD EVER" and "ADULTING AWARD" both look centred and bold without you adjusting a thing.
Pick a font that matches their personality: bold condensed for the shouty one, elegant serif for the sophisticated one, hand-drawn marker for the chaotic one. Add a footer if you want a date, a location, or a tiny tagline. The preview updates live, so you know exactly what you are ordering before you hit the button.
Each coaster is £5, or mix and match four designs for £15. We print them on premium 5mm Portuguese cork in Cornwall and ship UK-wide via Royal Mail Tracked 24. Most orders arrive within two to three working days.
When to send a custom coaster
We have seen thousands of designs come through the studio. These are the occasions that keep coming back:
- Birthdays for the "don't get me anything" friend
- Secret Santa when the budget is tight but the bar is high
- Housewarmings — a custom coaster set beats another scented candle
- Hen and stag do mementos that people actually keep
- "Thank you" gifts that feel considered, not last-minute
- Break-up recovery kits (we have seen "GOOD RIDDANCE" and we approved)
The hard-to-buy-for friend is not actually hard to buy for
Here is the truth: people who "have everything" are not asking for more possessions. They are asking for evidence that you pay attention. A custom coaster with the exact phrase they said three drinks in, in the exact colour they painted their kitchen, is that evidence. It does not need to be expensive. It needs to be specific.
The Coaster Creator is built for specificity. Every choice — shape, colour, font, wording — is yours. That is why the finished product feels like it came from a boutique design studio, even though you made it on your phone in a lunch break.
Design one now. See if you can stop at one.
The Coaster Creator is free to play with — you only pay when you are happy with the design. Most people make four. We will not judge you if you make six.
