All of our cork is sourced from Portugal — the world's premium cork-growing region — harvested sustainably from living trees that continue to absorb carbon for decades after.
The press
SwissQprint Nyala 4 UV flatbed.
The Nyala 4 is the flagship Swiss-built UV flatbed printer — engineered for absolute colour accuracy and built to run twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
We run a full ink set on it: opaque white as a foundation layer, CMYK for the artwork, and a clear UV varnish on top to seal and protect each print.
Because the press is a flatbed, the cork sits perfectly still while precision print heads pass overhead — no drift, no stretch, no compromise on registration.
The finish
Zünd digital cutting bed.
Printed sheets move straight onto a Zünd digital cutting and processing bed — a Swiss-engineered system that reads registration marks and cuts each coaster within a fraction of a millimetre.
No knives, no dies, no tooling charges. New shapes and sizes can be introduced in software, which is why we can carry such a wide design range without compromising lead times.
Every coaster leaves the bed with clean, consistent edges and is hand-inspected before it joins a wholesale order.
The 4-pass process
Four passes. Maximum colour. Built to last.
Each coaster passes under the print heads four times. It's slower than a single-pass run — and the reason our colour and longevity are in a different league.
PASS 01
White ink base
A dense layer of opaque white ink is laid down first, giving every colour above it a clean, bright surface to sit on — essential when printing onto natural cork.
PASS 02
CMYK colour
A full CMYK pass renders artwork at the printer's native resolution, with deep blacks and saturated colour the cork itself could never carry on its own.
PASS 03
CMYK reinforcement
A second colour pass intensifies density and tonal range, the difference between a coaster that looks good in week one and one still looking good in year five.
PASS 04
UV varnish
A clear UV varnish seals the print — protecting against drinks, heat and wear, and giving each coaster its signature soft sheen finish.
UV-cured inks — set instantly under UV light, no solvents, no off-gassing. All our Inks and varnishes are Green Guard Gold certified.
Four bonded layers — white, colour, colour, varnish — printed in 4 separate passes
Sealed finish — resistant to drinks, condensation and everyday retail wear.
Premium Portuguese cork.
All of the cork we print on is sourced from Portugal — the world's most respected cork-growing region. It's harvested sustainably from the bark of living cork oaks, which regrow their bark every nine years and continue to absorb carbon throughout their long lives.
The result is a coaster that's natural, renewable, gentle on surfaces — and a perfect canvas for our four-pass UV print.
